It ain't Chili yet!!!
I want to let you know some of what is going to happen in the month of September in Paint Bank, but I'm not going to tell you too much cause
YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO TAKE IT. September is Apple Festival month...sounds tame doesn't it...well Bubba, pack all this into your pipe and smoke it. We're gonna have Bluegrass bands...Big Bad Buffalo Chili Cook off contests...Apple Pie Baking contests...Apple Press demos, making real juice that you can drink and buy...home canning goods contest...historic tours or the ole' Tingler's Mill...Artisans in the workshop at the mill....tall tale contests..a smoking bison roast with a bar-b-q sauce contest. I'll tell you....I/m gonna stop and try to insert a calender...and as everything is solidified...I'll post it....Just wanted you to be the first to know. Give me a minute to figure out how to add the calender.
I can't get the freakin' calender to come up so I'll just do it the ole way...I'll tell you some dates so far. ..
Saturday September 13th...THE LOCUST MOUNTAIN BOYS..IN CONCERT FROM ......3:00 TILL 6:00 AT Tingler's Mill behind The Swinging Bridge Rest.
Tickets will be $7.00...half price with restaurant receipt for that day...kids under 10 get in free...we be cloggin' (Don't shave your mustache and think that's gonna fool me...I may be little but I'm mean)******Also on the 13th****The Big Buffalo Chili Cook-off. The time for that is 12:30 till 2:30...Big prize to the best cook540-897-5000 for details....their will be more for that day...I'll post it
Saturday September 27th ...Our good friends...THE CRAIG COUNTY BOYS... gettin' jiggy with the bluegrass...$7 cover...meal receipt half price...kids under 10 free...grinding out the tunes at Tingler's Mill in Paint Bank from 3 till 6. Beginning at 12:30 wet ou chops for the Apple Pie Bake-Off contest. Good cooks, great cooks or no cook at all can enter the contest...Bake your favorite recipe, it can be square or round, double crust or single crust or topped with something else. We don't care just bring a whole pie for the judging....a $25.00 cash prize will be awarded.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 20th Brunswick Stew will be cookin' all day.
And if you want to get paid for liein'....enter the Tall Tale contest. We're gonna pay you $50.00 for your story if you win. Do in song, do it while you dance...just sit there and do it...however you want...tell a 5 to 10 minute tall tale.(NO dirty stuff) and you could walk off with the prize.. That will begin around 2:00 and last till the last person shuts up. Starting around 12.30 we will be judging our home canning contest. This is a lost art, but there are still good canners in our area....Jams, pickles, fruit, meat...it doesn't matter...bring your best and we'll award a $25 prize to the best.
