Garden of Weedin'

It's springlike days like these that bring out the seed catalogs, short-sleeve shirts and flip-flops...the only problem is the ultraviolet glow of you winter faded body armor that makes you look more like a cadaver than a live breathing person....well GET OVER IT!! Snub your nose to all those judgmental want- to- be lean, mean and tan super-models that will soon be chunky old and wrinkled...and walk outside to your garden and put on your dream-weaver bonnet and plan your garden. Lay it out on paper...a nice combination of leafy vegetables, root crops, beans and peas and culinary herbs. You don't have to have a big area, you can just plant them among your perennials and annual flowers. The highly scented herbs, such as dill, basil and sage and annuals like marigolds and zinnias are great deer deterrents. You might want to get a small roll of chicken wire to hoop over the top of your greens...this is another way not to share the bounty with hopping and nibbling creatures. Here's a better idea. Come and visit us at Paint Bank General Store and walk out to our Seed and Feed and gather up all your gardening needs. Seeds, Bulbs, garden fru-frus, flags, birdhouses and bird feed, pots, heirloom plants, as well as other yard pretties. We'll be opening before the vernal equinox so you'll be prepared. Stop in and have a bowl of good hot homemade soup or a sandwich while you're there.

Remember....Life is a coin and you can spend it anyway you like, but know this, you can only spend it once.

Go green every chance you get...compost.

Only 44 days left till Spring!!
